DESCRIPTION:
Very nice example of a true-to-the-original, right-hand drive, pre-Defender D110. VIN: SALLDHAH7BAxxxx56 Skip my long-winded and exhaustive narrative, and go straight to the picture book here. This classic Rover was purchased from the original owner in Scottland and brought to the States by a Vermont importer before being purchased by myself two years ago.In restoring this truck to daily-driver-plus status, every attempt was made to stay true to the original LR design intent. Its all there, un-molested and mostly-un-modified. My off-roading days were over long before I took on this project, and from the condition of the underside of this truck, the previous owner wasnt into beating it off of rocks or sinking it into mud either. Heck, it was likely- ahem- garaged. So if youre looking for a tricked-out, suped-up, locked and loaded Defender, this isnt your truck- unless youd like to build it that way of course. Were all entitled to run with our whims now and again, and this would be a fantastic platform from which to start such a build. But for me, I like these trucks pretty much just how they rolled off of the factory floor. Cross country shipping will be your responsibility, but Ill gladly deliver/ drive the truck anywhere within about 500 miles of zip xxxx2 so long as you buy the diesel, are willing to put me up for the night, and help pay my way back home- or drop me at the local BMW motorcycle dealership and Ill find my own way home... oh, and warm chocolate chip cookies would be a nice touch. I may drive farther if you send me a care package of those cookies to keep me well nourished over the distance. Why am I selling? Well, I didnt buy it to sell so soon, but Ive got a business venture that Id like to help fund. The price? Theres about 25k in it, and I firmly believe that anyone would have a difficult time building a comparable truck for less. That said, I know that everyone likes a bargain, so Im wiling to take a small hit to get it into your hands. Yes, there are less expensive trucks out there, and they may be just fine. Buying a Defender is a highly personal choice, "...it has just about everything that every other vehicle on the road does not have, too much philosophy to go into here."- as quoted from nantkt2u, who has another fine example of a Defender for sale, a four door, should that be what youre after. Onto the truck- attention has been paid to the many common issues these non-NAS, ROW, imported trucks tend to have, including: Body, frame and general exteriorRusty frame: one minor repair, right-side near fuel tank was reqd; crossmembers are in good shape, rearmost crossmember shows some corrosion, but not enough to be replaced. Rusty door bottoms: all doors bottoms have been repaired and neutralized. Rusty bulkhead: original is still in great condition.Rusty floors: some seam corrosion exists, one small hole on drivers side, not significant enough for replacement.Rusty battery box: will need eventual replacement.Corrosion of lower body panels: custom aluminum reinforcement panels have been color-matched and powder-coated and installed.Other notables: custom safari-style running boards have been fabricated and black powder-coated; custom license plate bracket has been fabricated, color-matched and powder-coated; genuine LR mud flaps have been installed front and rear; steel wheels have been blasted, and color-matched and powder-coated and wrapped with 5 new Goodyear Wrangler tires, tall and skinny and aggressive, just like Maurice Wilks had intended. InteriorWorn seats: all professionally reupholstered.Corrosion at seat belt attachment points: custom aluminum reinforcement panels have been black powder-coated and installed.Worn door cards: passenger compartment cards are good, rear card is intact, but a tad beat.Weak wipers: except for the arms, the entire system has been replaced from motor to blades.Missing knobs/bits: all is intact and functional.Faulty gauges: everything works except for the tripometer.Other notables: a complete, custom, marine-grade headliner has been installed; a latch for a rear win
